Olive (Conarroe) Thayer of Willamina, Ore., was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Elbert, Colo. and passed away Dec. 11 2007, in a Sheridan, Ore. hospital.
The eldest daughter of Lawrence and Grace Conarroe, long-time Calhan residents, she attended school there and graduated from Calhan High School in 1931. Other members of her graduating class were Claudia Mitchell, Pollyanna Rice, Marie Kobilan, Dori Simmons, Mildred Parker Wilma Busch, Thelma McClure, Louie Griffin, Joe Triplett, Hubert Gandy, Fred Ullom, Herbert Rice, Bill Hodges, Ed Young, Helen Hiblar, Naomi Beaman and Buddy Jensen. Olive was united in marriage to Elmer Currier of Calhan in 1934 and they moved to Oregon in 1936. To this union were born four children: Betty, Sam, Virginia and Shirley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband Elmer, who contracted poliomyelitis and died in the early 1950s; her second and third husbands, Karl Hummel and Don Thayer; and her daughter Betty.
Among the survivors are Sam, Virginia and Shirley, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Olive’s sister Shirleen Banuelos of Colorado Springs, and her brother Percy Conarroe of Longmont. Services were conducted Dec. 15 at a funeral home in Sheridan with burial in the Yoncalla, Ore. cemetery.

Funeral services for Olive C. Thayer of Willamina will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, in the chapel at Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.
Visitation and video history are scheduled for 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, in the chapel. The video history will be repeated at 10:30 Saturday, immediately preceding services. Interment will be conducted at the Yoncalla Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Mrs. Thayer died at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007. She was 94.
Born on Nov. 18, 1913, in Elbert, Colo., she was the daughter of Lawrence and Grace (Allen) Conarroe. After graduating from high school, she completed two years of college.
A homemaker, she moved to Willamina in 1965. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and United Methodist Church in Willamina.
She married Donald Thayer on Aug. 22, 1980, in Reno. He preceded her in death.
She had previously been married to Elmer Currier and Karl Hummel, who both preceded her in death as well.
Mrs. Thayer is survived by a son, Samuel Currier of Salem; two daughters, Shirley Currier of Willamina and Virginia Anderson of Las Vegas; a sister, Shirleen Banuelos of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Bishop, and a granddaughter, Charlotte Wise.
